Last 31 August ICSS participated to the Jackocell ULTRA LOW PENTANE Partner event. We are enthusiastic and proud being among the few EPS converters that will use this new technology of reduced 3% pentane/Low density (18 g/l) product, granting not only a 50% reduction of pentane (emission), but even offering an alternative to legislators plans of forcing the industry into excessive costs of pentane collection/incineration units. This will help ICSS to strengthen the image and future of EPS as a cost efficient, environmentally sustainable packaging material. The Jackocell S 3341 development will be soon officially announced to the market but the first year’s pre-marketing volume is planned restricted only to ICSS and The Jackocell S 3341 Partners.

ICSS Group is environmental oriented since its start up in 1969. As soon as it was available, ICSS had broadly used low pentane EPS as much as possible. A 4% pentane special grade is already available but for high densities only (typically above 25 g/l). But today ICSS is proud to announce that a 3% pentane grade (JACKOCELL® 3) has been developed by Jackon GmbH and ICSS has been acknowledged as a Partner, the only firm among Italian EPS molders. But why is this important ? Are pentane emissions a real issue for the EPS packaging and building business ? To be honest today pentane emissions is only a “national issue” (regulations differ from Country to Country), but a much more strict EU legislation is expected in short times. CH, F, B, Scandinavia – and recently Germany lead the process. In the last few days in the Swedish Press was announced that - according to authorities – a company called Thermisol represents the biggest emission of pentane in Stockholm’s county. The environmental court now insists that the Nortalje plant needs to reduce the pentane emission. ThermiSol in Finland, Sweden and Denmark supplies high quality EPS insulation to the building industry. Last year the local authorities decided to take action: <>, says Lena Schönning, spokeswoman for the environmental office for Stockholm county. The authorities insisted, that Thermisol should reduced today’s emission from about 54 kg pentane per MT into maximum 42 kg pentane per ton. Thermisol protested against the new limits and filed a complaint that the limit should be set at 52 kg per MT, says Thermisol. The court, however, seems to follow the strategy of the local authorities : <>, said Lars Kock Jalvemyr, from the land-and environmental court. The new limit: 42 kg per MT is valid from September 2012. The Scandinavian governments are traditionally in close cooperation on environmental issues, wherefore similar action may be expected in Norway and Denmark. Next logical step would be Scandinavia proposing this to become an EU Directive. ICSS is prepared: are you ?

Domenica 27 novembre nel corso di una cerimonia pubblica presso il Teatro Fraschini di Pavia sono stati consegnati i premi Fedeltà al lavoro edizione 2011. Gli esponenti del mondo dell´impresa e del lavoro, insieme con i rappresentanti delle Istituzioni locali, si sono ritrovati in quest´occasione per partecipare alla tradizionale giornata di premiazione della Fedeltà al lavoro e del Progresso economico, promossa come ogni anno dalla Camera di commercio. Cerimonia che anche quest´anno ha premiato, oltre ai dipendenti, alle aziende e agli imprenditori per l´anzianità di servizio e di attività, alcuni rappresentanti autorevoli del mondo accademico nonché prestigiosi rappresentanti dell´ingegno imprenditoriale, anche nella declinazione di servizio a favore della comunità, e personalità di rilievo nel campo della ricerca.

I premi UNA VITA PER… sono andati invece a Federica Chalmers, recentemente scomparsa, alla memoria, per l´importante contributo che ha saputo infondere al sistema economico-produttivo della nostra provincia; a Battista Corsico, personalità distintasi nell´ambito produttivo e del commercio che, con il proprio lavoro, anche di responsabile del mondo dell´associazionismo, ha saputo dare particolare impulso alla promozione del territorio lomellino; ad Adriano Garbagna, imprenditore pavese che ha contribuito in modo significativo alla crescita dell´economia provinciale e che rappresenta una realtà produttiva estremamente significativa per il nostro tessuto economico; a Giampietro Migliorini un artigiano che, con determinazione e impegno, ha fatto dell´innovazione continua la chiave di un successo che si è tradotto in un portafoglio prodotti e in un bagaglio di competenze eccezionali sul territorio; alla prof. Carla Torselli: un lungo cammino caratterizzato dal forte senso di responsabilità verso la comunità, e indirizzato, nello spirito e nell´intento, verso un impegno sociale profuso, anche come amministratore, con fermezza, con costanza e passione per la tutela e la promozione dei diritti delle persone con disabilità.
